“A church where everybody is somebody and Jesus is Lord of all!”

Our Vision

We exist to exemplify God’s love through kindness, generosity, and acceptance of others.  We believe that God is the center and circumference of our ministry and through Him all things are possible.

Our Values

We are a Christ-centered community focused on relationships, worship, and transformation through God’s love and power. Guided by prayer and the Bible, we value every individual and seek to serve with compassion and purpose.

Our Story

On April 30, 1969, a body of baptized believers in Christ called a meeting for the purpose of organizing a working church in the Shiloh Community. During this meeting, a minister raised in the Shiloh Community, Brother Dallas Green, was nominated as moderator. Elder Dallas Green was called into the ministry in 1968 and was ordained in 1969. After much prayer, Elder Green and twelve citizens of the community organized Green’s Chapel. Services were held on the first and third Sunday of each month in the auditorium of Daniel McKee School. Green’s Chapel was later changed to Faith Chapel because truly this church was built on faith. In November of 1969, we purchased the land we worship on today located at 802 Phillips Faith Chapel Church Road, and in June 1970, we held our first services. On September 28, 1972 after much prayer and thoughtful consideration, we became part of the Original Church of God or The Sanctified Church. Elder and Sister Green loved The Original Church of God. He was led by God to inaugurate a day that they could celebrate the founder, Elder CW Gray. The first annual Founder’s Day service was held May 23, 1976 and has been held the fourth Sunday in May since.

Many improvements were made to the original structure of the church under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We’ve come a long way from 800 cinder blocks and some lumber. We have made major renovations such as a sanctuary and vestibule expansion, the raising of our ceiling, as well as an educational annex. With God’s guidance, Elder Green’s ministry, and the church, grew. For 38 loving years Elder Green preached the undiluted word of God. He truly believed Holiness was right. After Elder Green realized he could no longer physically carry out services himself, he brought forth the idea of voting the newly called, Dr. Linda Kennedy as our Pastor. In November 2006, Dr. Linda Kennedy was installed as Pastor of Faith Chapel. Elder Green held emeritus status for 6 years and continued to support his Daughter as his Pastor. For God he lived and for God he died on May 16, 2012.

Dr. Kennedy was a teacher of the gospel. It was important to her that we reach beyond our walls and help with the needs of our community. Prayer was the key. She taught us how to pray and seek God for his never ending love and power. For in her first sermon she reminded us that “faithful is HE who promised.” Although many times were weary, she continued to do the will of God. Dr. Kennedy continued to preach the word of God and baptize new believers just a few months before her passing on January 26, 2012. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Job 1:21

Minister Monique Tillage-Malone began her service to our congregation in 2014  following the passing of Dr. Kennedy. Minister Malone, brought a quiet and steady presence to our church community and  her calm leadership provided a much-needed period of stability.

Minister Malone’s safeguarding of the sheep and dedication to maintaining the established traditions and practices of our church allowed us to honor Dr. Kennedy’s legacy while gently guiding us through a difficult time of transition. Her compassionate demeanor and commitment to our congregation’s spiritual well-being have left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of serving with her.  She and her husband, First Gentleman and life-long member, Marricus Malone, served Faith Chapel until his passing in 2020.

Minister Taylor Kennedy-Overton (Granddaughter of the late Elder Green and Daughter of the late Dr. Kennedy) accepted her calling to the ministry in 2019 and was officially licensed in 2020. On November 7, 2021 the church voted unanimously to elect Taylor Kennedy-Overton as Pastor. She was officially installed in July 2022 by Pastor Rodney Martin; and ordained in August 2022 by Bishop Christopher A. Johnson of Zion Christian Ministries becoming the first ever affiliate Pastor of the Gap Dwellers Fellowship. In August 2022 Faith Chapel, by fervent prayer and majority vote, disassociated from The Original Church of God or Sanctified Church thus becoming the newly formed non-denominational fellowship; Faith Chapel Murfreesboro.

Pastor Taylor Kennedy-Overton has truly revitalized and transformed our church community. Since stepping into her role, she has initiated a series of successful changes that have significantly grown our congregation and deepened our collective faith. Under Pastor Overton’s visionary leadership, we have seen an expansion of all ministries, the creation of new ministries, the introduction of dynamic worship experiences, numerous cosmetic and esthetic upgrades, and the rebirth of our youth and music ministries. Her practical preach Word and passion for inclusivity and all things mental health has inspired many and attracted new members from diverse backgrounds. Pastor T’s dedication to fostering a vibrant and supportive community has not only honored our church’s rich legacy but also set us on a path of continued growth and spiritual renewal.

Moving full speed ahead,  FCM is currently in an exciting phase of pre-construction for our new campus, marking a significant milestone in our church’s journey. Recently, we discovered the availability of additional land adjacent to our planned site, which presents an incredible opportunity to expand God’s vision even further. The new campus will provide us with ample space to accommodate our growing family, enhance our ministries, and serve our community  more effectively. As we step into this new chapter, the name Faith Chapel resonates more profoundly than ever, reflecting our collective trust in God’s provision and guidance.

God is Good. Though we have lost loved ones along the way, we know that God never fails and He makes no mistakes. We continue to worship in spirit and truth as our foundation has taught us. Let us guide our youth in the same way we were led… to trust in the Lord and in Him, find peace and consolation. May God guide, guard, and direct us with His blessings in a manner pleasing in his sight… In Jesus’ name, Amen, Amen, Amen.
